Photojournalism and Truth
Photography as testimony, through to a public exhibition
Photography can document a fact with a force that few words can match, and for this reason it carries a responsibility. The programme traces the history of photojournalism and the work of photographers such as Oliviero Toscani and Nan Goldin, up to Letizia Battaglia, whose images documented the violence of the mafias in southern Italy. The practical part follows: composition, light and the use of whatever camera each student has, including a smartphone, and a field trip devoted to a social issue. The work produced becomes an exhibition.

- An exhibition of the students’ photographs, presented by them on a day open to families, the school community and the local area.
The programme can be recognised as school-to-work training (FSL, formerly PCTO). In that case we provide the documentation required for reporting: attendance register, competence assessment sheet and certificate of participation.
